Summary

  • Professor Jiang argues that the announced ceasefire between the US, Israel, and Iran is not a genuine move toward peace but a narrative-shaping exercise, and that all three sides remain fully committed to war. He introduces the concept of the messianic calling to explain what truly drives Donald Trump, Ayatollah Khamenei, and Benjamin Netanyahu: each sees himself as a divinely chosen figure on a mission to save his people and fulfill a sacred historical destiny, and this belief is what gives them energy, fearlessness, and resilience in the face of extreme danger and persecution.

The Messianic Calling: Three Characteristics

  • Divine energy: Believing oneself chosen by God produces a near-infinite reservoir of motivation, strength, and endurance that transcends physical limitations.

    • Jiang illustrates this with the example of a mother fighting off a black bear to protect her child, then multiplying that intensity by a million to approximate what a person with a messianic calling experiences.
    • Trump, at 79, eating poorly and in declining health, nonetheless maintained a grueling campaign schedule of multiple rallies a day across months, sleeping only a few hours, sustained entirely by his conviction that God chose him for his mission.
  • Absolute fearlessness and transcendence of death: The chosen one believes God will protect them from bullets and harm, and that even death is not a defeat but a passage to heaven.

    • After the assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania, Trump immediately stood up, pumped his fist, and shouted “Fight, fight, fight,” demonstrating this fearlessness.
    • Their bodies are merely vessels; if the vessel breaks, they become martyrs, filling their followers with divine energy and ensuring the mission continues. They transcend the material world and become immortal ideas and sources of inspiration.
  • Persecution complex: Being persecuted is interpreted as proof of divine election, because the world always resists God’s chosen. This persecution energizes rather than weakens them, as it is seen as God testing their faith and commitment.

    • Trump survived two impeachments, a cabinet filled with deep-state figures who openly disobeyed him (such as General Mark Milley telling China to bypass Trump), constant media ridicule, European elites mocking him at the UN, and post-presidency lawfare including the Mar-a-Lago raid and attempts to bankrupt or imprison him. All of this, in his view, confirms he is on the right path.
    • The Ayatollah, at 86, is being hunted by Mossad and the full power of the US military, yet Jiang says he feels ecstatic, more alive and energetic than ever, because the moment he has waited for his entire life, the chance to destroy the “Great Satan,” is finally before him.
    • Netanyahu faces corruption charges that will proceed the moment the war ends and his immunity lapses, along with a deeply divided Israeli public, yet he sees all of this as confirmation that God favors him and is testing his resolve.

The Ayatollah’s Divine Mission

  • Iran’s belief system combines Zoroastrianism, the world’s first eschatological religion, which divides the cosmos into a moral struggle between good and evil, light and dark, truth and a lie, and Shia Islam, which holds that suffering, persecution, and sacrifice are intrinsic to true faith.
    • The Ayatollah believes he must unite the Muslim world to fight on the side of good against the Great Satan, the United States, and its vassal state, Israel.
    • He is willing to die for his faith, which he considers the greatest honor.
    • His specific mission is to lure the United States into Iran, where he will destroy it, thereby freeing his people from oppression and saving the world.

Donald Trump’s Divine Mission

  • Trump believes America has been made ungreat over the past century because it was co-opted by globalists who forced the country into forever wars in the Middle East, killing thousands of American soldiers, opened the borders to millions of illegal immigrants to corrupt and destroy civil society, and infected school curricula with multiculturalism, identity politics, DEI, and related ideologies.
    • He sees globalism, liberalism, and multiculturalism as cancers on the body of the American Republic that cannot be negotiated with or waited out but must be purged with blood and fire.
    • His divine mission is to destroy the American empire by drawing it into an unwinnable war against Iran, compel the American people to rise up against their globalist oppressors, withdraw America from the world, and achieve its manifest destiny of controlling North America, the promised land God gave to Americans.
    • Once America stops interfering in global affairs and restores its republican soul, it will be great again. Trump’s role is to lead this revolution against the global elite.

Benjamin Netanyahu’s Divine Mission

  • Netanyahu, like many Israelis, looks back to the Kingdom of David around 3,000 years ago as the golden age when Israel was free, independent, unified, and supreme in the Middle East, a time of peace and prosperity.
    • After the kingdom collapsed, Israel was repeatedly attacked, dismembered, and made a vassal state by the Assyrians, Babylonians, Persians, Ptolemies, Seleucids, and Romans, who destroyed the Second Temple and exiled the Jews from Jerusalem.
    • The entire project of modern Israel is to return to the glory of the Kingdom of David, and the only obstacles are Iran and the United States. If both are destroyed in a cataclysmic war, the Kingdom of David can be restored, Israel will be unified, all Jews can return, and Israel can become the light of all nations.

The Christian Zionist Connection

  • A critical question arises: why would the American empire allow Israel to become dominant in the Middle East, the center of global trade and oil?
    • Jiang’s answer is that certain elements of the American global elite, whom he loosely calls Christian Zionists, actually want the American empire to be destroyed and to leave the Middle East, because they believe it is their messianic calling to help restore the Kingdom of David.
    • Christian Zionists hold that for Jesus to return, the nation of Israel must be reconstituted, the temple must be rebuilt, all Jews must be gathered from around the world, and a final battle between Israel and the world must take place.
    • Jiang emphasizes that this project has been in place for centuries, dating back to the Protestant Reformation, and that its intellectual foundations were built by Isaac Newton, whom he describes not merely as the founder of calculus and classical mechanics but as a self-perceived prophet with a messianic calling to understand the mind of God and prepare for the return of Jesus.
    • Jiang promises that understanding Newton’s real historical plan will make current events in the Middle East far more intelligible.
